Discovery – Step 1 in the design process
by webgarden ~ November 30th, 2007. Filed under: Web Design. There are many steps involved in the process of web design. To give our clients and potential clients a general idea of what to expect when they meet with a web designer, webgarden has laid out the general steps in a series of blog posts.
The first step of the web design process is “Discovery”
Webgarden starts the first step of the web design process by meeting with our potential clients. We prefer to meet with our clients face to face, but if that is not possible, then we set up a telephone meeting. During the initial meeting we try to open the lines of communication by asking questions geared towards your business. What does your business do? What is your role in the company?
Next we ask what your goal is in creating or revising your website. What type of information would you like to have online? What type of usability would you like in your website? Who are your competitors? What are their website addresses? What do you like about your competition’s site? What would you change?
After going through all these questions in detail, we then have a better idea of the type of website you are looking for. Once we conclude the meeting, we begin the second step of the design process.
