Dreamweaver Bug

by webgarden ~ November 8th, 2007. Filed under: Web Design.

For the last few days I have been fighting with my dreamweaver because every time I go to modify any php code, the application crashes! So the first few times, I thought it was me – Did I press the wrong button? I restarted the application after it automatically closed and tried again, but still, Dreamweaver keeps crashing. Then I thought, “oh it must be my computer acting up”. So I did I  HARD restart. “that’ll teach my computer a lesson for screwing around with me…” But no change. Dreamweaver crashed again as soon as I tried to make a change to some dynamic code.

After a bit of research on the Adobe site,  I found a techNote telling us that there is a file that has been corrupted by the time change and advising dreamweaver users to delete the file. The crashes do not occur in Dreamweaver 8 or earlier. So those of us using the shiny new CS3 will have to go in and delete the corrupted file.

Follow this link for the Adobe instructions on how to delete the corrupted file – and REMEMBER to change your folder settings to “view hidden folders” http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb402776

My dreamweaver is back to normal again after deleted that corrupted file and I am breathing a sigh of relief!

Hey there this is Cam from Lavalamp Productions…and being a handcoder myself, I have learned to not like Dreamweaver rather quick and I write all my server-side scripting by hand. If you are looking for anyone to help out with the PHP stuff (troubleshooting and what-not) then let me know as I am just about to finish up a UCFV course in web design and I would like to put my new found knowledge to work. contact me at the email address supplied and feel free to visit my site as well

Dreamweaver has been lately my goto software for years. I really don’t know what I would do without it. There were times when I first started out using the software, and I believed it was way too complicated. Now I fly around it, and it has turn out to be a great asset in my personal tool box. Anyway thank you for the posting.
