webgarden.com

I am taking back my original post (the part about the good people in the world…)
People are MONEY crazy – even monks!!!! The actual value of the webgarden.com domain is no more than $100. This is because they have no page ranking and no visitors to the site!
Let me put this into perspective for you. I bought the domain name “webgarden.CA” for less than $20/year from my favorite web-hosting company (BlueFur.com) This is the average price for a .CA website.
.COM website sells for as low as $5.95/year.
Personally, I see the value for webgarden.com as more than $100 so I am prepared to offer him $200 – which is double the appraised value.
What do you think? What type of money would you be willing to spend for a .COM domain?

What if the person has no desire to sell?
Also, registering a site with a domain registrar is different than buying a registered site from someone who already uses it.
If someone came along offering fair market value for your house, and it was simply worth more to you than the mere market price of the house (for whatever various personal reasons), what reason would you feel motivated to sell?

You are right, buying a registered site from somebody who is already using it usually does go for more money than just buying a domain name from a registrar – BUT if the site gets no visitors and no link love, it doesn’t really have very much value.
I really like the analogy you used for buying a home – since everybody in Vancouver can relate to that!
If I were a building developer and I came by your home (which is located in the outskirts of town, and really doesn’t have much value, and you don’t even live there – and I offered you DOUBLE what it is worth, would you come back and say I will sell it ONLY for fifty times it’s worth?

But if they didn’t want to sell, then it wouldn’t matter what its perceived market worth is, does it?
Why sell a domain for a couple hundred dollars if money is not that important? If someone doesn’t want to sell, why should you expect them to simply because you made an offer?

Hi Alex,
I actually didn’t realize that they did not want to sell… I thought it was just a stagnent site that they would be happy to get rid of and generate a modest income on.
